The New Grand Lodge
The annual Grand Lodge of Quebec Communication took place on May 28th, 2005 – with all business being handled in an orderly fashion and the installation of a new slate of Grand Lodge officers, including our new Most Worshipful Master, John Prosnick. R.W. Br. Opkar S. Sandhu was elected Deputy Grand Master.

Q&A With the New GM

W. Gordon Parker Medal Of Merit
At this year's Grand Lodge Communication, the Medal of Merit was presented to R.W. Bro. James Ross Beattie. We have reprinted the words of presentation here.

A small piece of our history: King Edward Lodge was formed and instituted on the 24th of June 1905, St. John the Baptist Day. The Lodge U.D. was opened at 3:00 p.m. Twenty-eight Master Masons signed the petition for a dispensation, 27 became charter members. Lake Magog Lodge #55 in Magog and Ascot Lodge #30 in Lennoxville recommended the forming of a new lodge in North Hatley.

On Monday, April 18th a special evening took place at a meeting of St. John’s Lodge No. 3 held at the Quebec City Masonic Temple. The Lodge paid tribute to two of its favourite sons: Bro. Alfie Cooper and W. Bro. Ralph Atkins who celebrated 60 and 50 years of Masonic life, respectively.

The Brethren of Phil-Can Lodge #137 attended the 10th Annual Ladies' Night of the Filipino-Canadian Cabletow Service Club, Inc. in Toronto last May 13th, held at Crystal Fountain Banquet hall in Markham, Ontario.

Over a hundred Masons with their families and friends attended the festivities.

On April 26th, Bro. John T. Johnston Sr. was installed in the chair of King Solomon as Right Worshipful Master of Lodge Kilwinning 1754, District Grand Lodge of Newfoundland and Labrador, Grand Lodge of Antient Free & Accepted Masons of Scotland, in St. John's, Newfoundland. In attendance was his son, Bro John Taylor-Johnston of Victoria Lodge #16, in Sherbrooke, Quebec.

The Grand Master, the Most Worshipful John E. Leide, Grand Master of Masons in Québec has completed his last of six scheduled visits to the St. Francis District. This last occasion was to help Victoria Lodge #16 celebrate it second annual Seal Flipper Supper, a favourite delicacy of the Grand Master from Newfoundland. For supper, 41 brethren attended with more than 45 on the register for Lodge.
