Thinking Outside the Box

Brethren, on May 28th we will be electing officers to Grand Lodge at the Grand Lodge Communication. Every sitting Master, Senior Warden, Junior Warden and Past Master of a lodge has a right and a duty to vote. They will be deciding the future of the craft over the coming years. This duty should not be taken lightly and each vote should be cast after weighing the merits of each candidate and making an intelligent decision based on one’s own convictions. The same can be said of any election in a democratic society whether it be Federal, Provincial, or Municipal election, we vote on the platform the candidate stands for. Herein lays the problem.

18th Century Lodge Re-Opened
The Masons of Quebec were given a rare opportunity to step back in time on the afternoon of April 16th, 2005 when the Charity Lodge re-opened for lodge business at the Karnak Temple as part of a play depicting a lodge operating in 1774.

The creation of the Wellington District Degree Team of Guelph Ontario, the play is a recreation of a typical lodge meeting of the 18th century (the events take place in 1774).

St. George's Presents
"Masonry in the Middle East"
On April 19th 2005, St. George's Lodge No. 10 held a special presentation on the topic of "Masonry in the Middle East". The event was held at the Masonic Memorial Temple on April 19th, 2005. Presented by Br. Fayez Oustwani and Br. Omar Midani, members of St. George's Masonic Study Group, the lecture lasted approximately one hour.

Red Storey Day
There will be a special tribute dinner held in honour of Red Storey, one of Montreal's greatest sports personalities, who has been a big supported of Shrine activities over the years. The dinner will be held at Buffet Sorento - 1275 Dollard, Lasalle on Friday May 6th, 2005. Cocktails will be served at 12pm, followed by a luncheon at 1:15pm. Tickets cost $50. "Master Mason's Night" at the Scottish Rite
All Master Masons interested in joining the Scottish Rite are welcome to attend an open house on May 2nd. A sampling of the ritual will be performed.

Thistle Lodge to Host Open Night of Instruction
Thistle Lodge No. 96 will be holding an open lodge of instruction for prospective candidates. A presentation on masonry will be given, followed by a wine and cheese. Ladies are welcome. Details Here
