Thinking Outside the Box
by R.W. Bro. Stephen Roberts
The question is are you a Shrine-Mason or are you a mason and they are
shriners? This thought came to me on the 6th August when I was at the
parade for the Maple Sugar Bowl in Hanover. This is an all-star football
game between the State of Vermont and the State of New Hampshire for the
purpose of raising money for the 3 Shriners Hospitals in the North East of
which Montreal is one. READ

Profundities of the Grand Master
by M.W. Bro. John Prosnick
Adam was

God said that He was going to make Adam a companion and
that it would be woman. READ

Masonry Must Re-Engage with Society
by Br. David Pickup
Several months
ago I was asked by a brother in my lodge to help setup a new
website for the Grand Lodge of Quebec, which would be run by
the Public Relations Committee – that website became the Rough
Ashlar (and thanks for stopping by...)
Since then I've been asked by a number of brethren why the
Ashlar is considered "public" relations, when the most of the
stories are about lodge activities, which, they assume could

When a
Freemason first receives his Entered Apprentice apron, he is told
certain truths about it, and one line in particular claims a
distinguished pedigree for the apron in comparison to other
historical emblems/organizations. A mason who is not familiar with
the classics may not fully realize the claim being made on behalf of
Masonry, and so we have explored certain of these other emblems in
this issue of the Rough Ashlar - the Golden
Fleece, the Roman
Eagle, and the Order
of the Garter. |
