Thinking Outside the Box

Hats off to Bro. Ray Darlington and Bro. John Waagen, the two Shrine-Masons who are trying to put on a one-day class. These brethren are doing something to try and increase membership in our lodges, and in the Shrine. I applaud them for not just sitting around and bellyaching as many are doing; they stepped forward and said "I will put on a one-day class."

One-Day / Un Jour
The Grand Master, M.W. Bro John Prosnick, has given tentative approval for a one-day Masonic class if certain criteria are respected. The organizers must find a lodge to host the event and find the lodges and/or the brethren to perform the degree work. Also two dates must be set aside, one for one-day class in English, and the second for a one-day class in French. The dates that are set aside are Saturday March 4th 2006 at 09H00 for the English class and Saturday April 8th 2006 at 09H00 for the French class. The host lodge for these 2 events is Waverley Lodge # 82 located at 14100 Pierrefonds blvd. in Pierrefonds.

The Three Battles of Quebec
A Series of Betrayals and a Lesson in History

Since the foundation of Quebec in 1608, England covets New France. Two attempts at annexation have already aborted: Kirke in 1629, and William Phipps’ attempt in 1690. England profits from the Seven-Year War (1756-1763) in order to secure the territory. Thus, the fate of Quebec is played out three times, during as many battles, in 1759, 1760, and 1775. These confrontations are marked by treachery. Montcalm, Lévis and Montgomery must not only measure themselves against the British but also against the most abject treason coming from their own troops.
